Demi Fortson is a Research Associate for the Neuropathology Division at the Lieber Institute, focusing on laser capture microdissection followed by RNA-seq (LCM-seq) from samples of human hippocampus in contrast with homogenate tissue. Demi graduated with her B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2017, with a focus in plant pathology. She then graduated with her M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biomedical Science in 2019 where she performed research on pancreatic cancer in C57BL/6 mice.
