Millions of people are impacted by a severe mental illness. Every year one out of five people will experience a major mental health issue which can ripple to impact financial, relationship and medical wellbeing. Mental illness is not new, yet we still do not fully understand why it happens.
That’s where the Lieber Institute for Brain Development (LIBD) comes in.
We believe the brain itself holds the keys to understanding mental illness. We will not stop exploring the brain until we understand the root causes of severe mental illness and options that treat, cure and prevent the disorders.
